Cardiac Hypertrophy

Cardiac hypertrophy is accompanied by reprogramming of gene expression, where the altered expression of ion channels decreases electrical stability and increases the risk of life-threatening arrhythmias. However, the underlying mechanisms are not fully understood.

We are following up a number of genes identified through genome-wide association studies for their role in hypertrophy and atrophy. This includes the use of in vitro models of hypertrophy and Zebrafish.
